Article: 3rd December 2007:
Members of the Karate Centre York along with Members of the Gracie Barra York enjoyed a fantastic training seminar with 2x Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion and current European Champion 'Braulio Estima'.
Apologies to those members who missed the chance to come along. Everything was a bit short notice. All future events will be published on our events page - with as much notice as possible.
Braulio is one of the greatest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighters in the world today. With numerous gold medals in the Mundials, ADCC, European Championships, 5 times Pan American Champion and 2 times World Champion. Braulio has established himself as one of the greatest grapplers of all time.
Braulio is also a brilliant teacher and everyone came away having learnt new techniques or improved their existing skills. We also had great fun.... especially the kids. Check out the fingers over Dale's head... could that be an encourage-able... mischievous... sister?
Naturally, although we don't take ourselves too seriously, we do practice Martial Arts seriously. The adult sessions were good fun, but rigorous and there'll be a few aches and pains today.

Braulio is pictured grappling with Richard Todd demonstrating 'self defence' techniques to the young members.

Richard (the attacker) is now being thrown by Braulio - over the hip of Braulio.

Braulio (having advised escape first when possible) demonstrates the follow up (punch to the head) on a grounded and dangerous assailant.

Braulio and Richard demonstrating techniques.

Group demonstration of a head lock and choke techniques.

Close up of Richard Todd going for a choke on Braulio.

Braulio taking the junior class.

Braulio was clearly having a great time too.

An excellent team building lesson by Braulio. Braulio is pictured scheming with the youngest members, advising them on how to take on the rest (including the adults). And yes they did succeed. And yes it was great fun. No secrets given away... sorry.

Braulio observing young members and providing advice.
